Hope of Us
Hope of Us is a community service club branched from the Los Angeles Chapter of the Hope Global Outreach Foundation. Our club’s focus is to serve our community through volunteering and to educate young students on current sociopolitical issues of the world.
This year, in service to our community, we will
- Plan chapter and club fundraisers to donate funds to local charities
- Tutor and mentor young students through Vocabulary Quotient
- Participate in annual and monthly events, such as the shoe drive, coin drive, and walk-a-thon
When we’re not planning, during our weekly meetings, we choose one relevant sociopolitical issue and dive into
- The issue in discussion
- Why it is urgent
- How we can enact change
The board members develop and present a slide show, allowing general members to reflect on the issues at hand. Some past topics include homelessness in LA, gender dysphoria, and space exploration.
Members consist of both general volunteers and board members. Currently, our board consists of a club advisor, president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. The roles of each board member can depend on the tasks of the position and conditions of the project.
